šKIDS 4 KIDS!!! š
I am SO excited that what was a DREAM just a few months ago became a REALITY this week!!!
We believe in a whole approach to malnutrition care. That means not just treatment, but preventionā¦. because we want to help our kids and families THRIVE. That means addressing their intellectual, spiritual, physical and emotional needs.
We have several at risk children in our sponsor program, Grace Kids. Because there are a few organizations working with infants and toddlers in the area, we decided to focus first on school aged children for this program. (We will be treating all ages when we open the clinic.)
Our first goal was to get the children sponsored for their schooling. Education is the KEY to change and growth, it gives a sense of accomplishment, pride and HOPE for the future. The children are served a nutritious meal each school day. And we provided uniforms and supplies for the children to ease some of the financial burden off their parents.
Itās been probably 6 months ago that I told Julson my DREAM to expand Grace Kids in a couple of areas. The first being KIDS FOR KIDS. The idea is to provide a female goat to each child. This goat is an investment and education. It is not to eat, but to learn how to save for the future by breeding them and selling the babies. We knew we needed to be patient because we didnāt have funding.
Fast forward several months and we get a donation from a very generous family and they said āDo whatever you need with the money but please use a portion of it to do something special.ā We considered several different things but the goats kept coming to mind so we prayed about it and called Julson.
He waited until it was āgoat buying timeā at the market when the prices would be down a bit. We gave him a budget and he was able to negotiate to get all the kids a goat plus one extra!
The amazing thing about Julson is the way he sees the bigger picture and the way he genuinely LOVES God and people so much. He called us and asked if he could put together a āprogramā for the families when he gave them the goats⦠the program would be a Bible Study and business class about taking care of the goats. He enlisted the help of our old friend Jean Phillipe āJPā and together they made it happen!!!Julson FaceTimed us FROM THE CLINIC PORCH ššš during class and needless to say I cried my way through the call cause not only did we see one dream come true with the goats we saw a glimpse into the future when many more people come sit there too!
We are so very grateful for generous donors who are making a HUGE difference in the lives of families, for men like Julson and JP who love their country and Jesus, and for God allowing us to be a small part of His big story of grace.
I canāt wait to see how the rest of the dreams unfold! <3 <3 <3
